The DMC reboot gets an endless torrent of hate tossed at it; mostly to do with the approach to Dante and not the incredibly solid gameplay in it. Regardless of where you fell on it, it resulted in an overall failure that Capcom is keen for you to forget about.
Hence returning to numbered entries while giving it back to Japanese developers. It all looks suitably barmy, with plenty of challenging, yet, oh-so-cool combat expected from the series.
One thing is clear, Capcom is going out of their way to make this a blatant love letter to long-time fans; they are certainly betting big that they will show up for this grand return - is the appeal still there?
