The first The Caligula Effect was a PS Vita title that underwhelmed reviewers - with most calling it a Persona-clone - but it sold like hotcakes in Japan; hence the sequel we're getting.
The comparison to Atlus' classic franchise is valid; the life-sim RPG elements are combined with RTS dungeon crawling and an anime-infused plotline. Yet, does it have an identity of its own?
Well, Atlus doesn't mind since it is publishing both. If you enjoyed the former; I'm sure this will sate you. If you are looking for something close to Persona’s quality though, you might have to look elsewhere.
