Chris Smalling has been rewarded for a fine season with a leap forward in the ratings.

The 26 year old finally came of age last year as he shone at the heart of the Man United defence, excelling alongside Daley Blind as Louis van Gaal’s side conceded just 35 goals. If he continues his current trajectory, expect him to be one of the finest defenders in the game before too long.
