God Of War: 20 Awesome Easter Eggs You Need To See

God of War's return in 2018 was initially met with some distrust; with seasoned admirers of Kratos’ original adventures wondering how drastically the developers intended to depart from the franchise's original formula with this reboot/sequel.

Cut to a year later and God of War received critical-acclaim, praised for pleasing fans both old and new with a new setting, new characters and a brand new feel, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

Set in the world of Norse Mythology, many years have passed since Kratos took his vengeance against the Olympian pantheon where he found a new life with his young son Atreus in the land of Midgard. In a savage land inhabited by monsters and warriors, with Norse gods on the horizon, Kratos and Atreus must learn to fight together in order to reach the tallest mountain in all the nine realms, which leads them down many dangerous paths.

Like most games, God of War has many secrets and Easter Eggs hidden within the world, ranging from textural throwbacks to the original games, references to the larger world of Norse mythology, foreshadowings of potential sequel plot points and others that are direct shout-outs to the fans.

Be aware that the following contains key spoilers from the main narrative.

While on the subject of clothing, there is another nice little detail for Atreus. Before encountering Brok and getting the opportunity to upgrade Atreus’ armour, you’ll notice that around his waist, there is a patterned sash in the same colours of Kratos’ Greek outfit.

This bears a strong resemblance to the loincloth that Kratos wore throughout the previous God of War games, an item of clothing clearly not suitable for the harsher environments of Midgard.

Instead, it acts as a nice accessory for Atreus’ look, a possible momentum of his father to have at all times. He has his mother’s knife after all.

Now he has a piece of both of them.
