Hitman: Ranking EVERY Game From Worst To Best

It's hard to believe that for almost twenty years, a franchise starring a generic-looking bald chap has endured, but that only goes to show that with strong writing and phenomenal talent, even the most featureless of characters can become stars in their own right.

Agent 47's design is itself evidence the franchise has grown with each instalment, but we've also got various characters fleshed out alongside, and developers IO Interactive experimenting and refining some now-exquisite stealth gameplay.

This series has adapted with the times to survive; each one becoming that more self-aware and wacky, to the point where in the newest trilogy, 47 will quip one-liners in the most monotone voice imaginable, before bludgeoning his target with a blueberry muffin.

Starting out life as a PC-only series and despite shifting publishers numerous times, Agent 47 has found a way to travel the globe, taking out targets across multiple generations.

With the recent completion of the Hitman "World of Assassination" trilogy and the release of an HD Enhanced Collection comprising Absolution and Blood Money, there isn't a better time to take a look through the franchise.

What's the best Hitman game from IO Interactive?

At first glance, this portable Hitman game may seem nothing more than another shooting gallery on iOS and Android, but it retains the humour and puzzle aspects that make Agent 47's missions so engaging.

A simple headshot might do the trick, but Hitman Sniper encourages you to find more creative means when taking out a target from afar - kills can be strung together, creating a domino effect that'll leave the party no choice but to finish up early.

In true Hitman fashion, this game makes the most of its location as there is only one, but it acts more like a chess board, with pre-placed pawns just waiting to become lambs to the slaughter. Diana will also be in 47's ear to encourage stylised kills for a better score.

This continuation of sniper gameplay followed in the footsteps of Hitman Absolution's pre-order bonus Sniper Challenge, taking sniping to newer levels of complexity and feels far from the days of Silent Scope.

This game is perfect on-the-go, taking into account how people play mobile games today. Even though it might not go down well amongst longtime fans, just a year after release, Hitman Sniper is Square Enix Montreal's biggest revenue generator, and it has been credited to help fund the charming GO series.
