Horizon Zero Dawn Reviews: 12 Critical Reactions You Need To Know

5. Graphics & Performance Are Incredible (Of Course)

Horizon Zero Dawn
Sony
"Horizon may well be the most graphically impressive game of the entire generation. Played on a PS4 Pro and 4K television it’s absolutely staggering, with the lighting and level of detail at times seeming almost impossibly good. The game’s still gorgeous on a normal PlayStation 4 though, aided by the wonderful Zoid-like creature designs." - Metro
"Animations are smooth and full of extra little flourishes that make sure Aloy and her metal enemies are a delight to watch in action, and they’re backed up by terrific sound direction – solid voice acting, terrifying machine cries, and a subtle soundtrack that never gets in the way." - The Jimquisition

Shock: Horizon is a beautiful looking game that many critics are calling not only the most graphically accomplished open-world game to date, but genuinely one of the most beautiful games ever made of any kind on any platform.

Praise hasn't just been directed at the gorgeous environments and incredible lighting effects, though: most of the voice acting, sound effects and musical score were roundly lauded for enhancing the game's atmosphere.

Considering critics noted the game having little in the way of glitches and it will only launch with a 250MB day-one patch, it seems that Guerrilla has done a fantastic job optimising it straight out of the box.
