Injustice 2 Reviews: 9 Critical Reactions You Need To Know
7. Combat Is Satisfyingly Improved
"The real star of the show is the fighting system, which consists of a mix of hand-to-hand combat, super powers, weapons, and environmental hazards. How characters fit into these styles of combat differs, but as is the norm for NetherRealm's games, most attacks feel hefty and deliberate at first. Special moves and combos are easy enough to learn, but it takes time and practice to get combo timing under your skin--to move fluidly from one attack to the next." - Gamespot
"It makes several big changes. Some of my favorites include the ability to spend meter in order to gain invulnerable movement to escape projectile-happy enemies, allowing you to block some environmental attacks, and a global increase in the speed sharpen the action. Faster walking speed makes matches feel quick and agile, a change from the at times plodding pace of Gods Among Us. New defensive options make fighting ranged specialists like Deadshot or Green Arrow less frustrating than the sometimes oppressive and seemingly endless barrages in we saw in the last game." - IGN
"The fighting is once again a ridiculous show of power. At any given second a hero could be punched through a pyramid, thrown into space, or mauled by Harley Quinn’s hyenas. This level of brutality is nothing new for Injustice, but the dancing that occurs between these catastrophic strikes is faster than before, and offers a higher level of strategy...Matches rarely have lulls, and players have more opportunities to turn the tables on their opponents...Special meter management also offers new dynamics, and no longer hangs so heavily on banking segments for a potential Clash or super move in the final round." - Game Informer
Any fighting game lives or dies by its combat, of course, and as with the story, the brawling is said to be tightened up significantly here, allowing players to tackle challenging fights a number of different ways, while promoting an overall brutally balletic style of play.
The slight pacing increase has been near-universally applauded, and it seems that, regardless of your own skill level, there are a lot of different approaches at your disposal.
