Mass Effect Andromeda Story Recap: 10 Major Plot Points You Need To Know

1. Something Happens To Alec Ryder (Father), Putting You In Charge

Throughout the latest trailers and Andromeda videos, they've made it clear that Alec Ryder is the head Pathfinder (a title granted due to his role in the Initiative), with Scott and Sara Ryder being the lower-level Pathfinders. However, within the first cinematic trailer, there's a point in which they have a shot of Scott Ryder, and a voice that's definitely Cora saying "You're the new Pathfinder."

Put simply, it doesn't seem that Alec Ryder will last very long on this trip.

What exactly happens to make Ryder the new Pathfinder will likely remain unclear until after release, as Bioware probably has no intention to spoil any other surprises. That being said, with the numerous shots of a different person wearing Alec's N7 armor, Ryder will likely be thrown into a leadership role faster than previously expected.

Although it will help Ryder's character grow to adapt to that leadership role, here's hoping that Alec and Scott/Sara can have some bonding moments prior to his (probable) demise.
