Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Everything We Know So Far
5. The Return Of Ocelot
There are two major characters that are series' regulars across the main games in the series, Johnny Sasaki - a comic-relief character with irritable bowels who was a total laughing stock until in part four he was given a full role and ended up marrying Snake's former flame Meryl - and Revolver Ocelot. The latter is the gun-toting first boss of the 1998 original 3D game, and one of the most beloved characters in the history of the series. In the modern timeline he's an ageing man who has his hand cut off by the Cyborg Ninja, only to acquire one from Liquid Snake (Solid's brother) before becoming 'possessed' by it and going on a rampage in one of the nuclear-equipped Metal Gear walking tanks. In the older timeline though we got a glimpse of what a younger Ocelot was like in Snake Eater - that being a cocksure commanding officer who at that stage in his life was actually yet to take up the nickname of 'Revolver'. Although the two are diametrically opposed, due to their many battles they end up forming a mutual respect for one another, and when Big Boss wakes from his coma it's an older Ocelot who ends up helping to rebuild the man - and reputation - that once was. In the previous games Ocelot's placement in the narrative has always been to be a double - or sometimes triple - agent, so it'll be no surprise if his helping of Boss is only to further someone else's goals in the long run.
