Microsoft have just announced that they€™re to launch an update for their Xbox 360 interface through LIVE on December 6th, which will be free to all console owners. The update promises a fully upgraded dashboard, expanded voice capabilities with Kinect and the first group of new entertainment custom applications. Microsoft are starting a campaign beginning with the update on December 6th (and continuing on an ongoing basis through early 2012), which they say will deliver a wealth of new customised applications for television, movies, internet videos, sports and music that roll out from world-leading providers in more than 20 countries. Also, brand new personal and social features including Cloud Storage for Game Saves and LIVE Profile, Beacons and Facebook Sharing will launch with the 6th December update, along with enhanced Family Settings. Once again, Xbox heads will get a rejuvenated system menu; there seem to be as many interface revamps as there are iTunes updates these days. I€™m not exactly complaining though, from the looks of it, the update will bring a wealth of new features that may even begin to threaten the PS3 in terms of connectivity and online consumption. Make sure you€™re at your Xbox and online on December 6th for the first update. For more information see www.xbox.com/live
