2020 has seen the world of sports thrown into disarray, with seasons suspended, and great lengths gone to to make sure they can be finished. Even though the NBA Playoffs are from over, the next instalment in the 2K franchise has kept its annual September release date, and the hype around it couldn't be higher.

As loyal fans of the gaming franchise know, the release of a new edition can come with an overwhelming amount of options, from which mode to play, to which team to choose, and how best to build a championship-winning franchise.

Of course, one of the most important aspects of the game is the players, and as a reflection of the NBA itself, a single player can make all the difference, with the potential to almost single-handedly take a team to the next level. These are the players 2K is built for, and they are easily the most exciting thing about the game.

From intriguing rookies, to the most explosive, all the way through to most talented players in the league, these are some of the athletes on 2K21 that you simply need to gravitate to first.

10. Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant is one of the greatest pure scorers in the league and will be one of the highest-rated players on NBA 2K21, without question. Though he certainly has his critics in terms of loyalty to his teams, there can be no denying his talent and skill with a basketball in his hand.

After a championship-less run with the Thunder, Durant decided to leave Oklahoma City behind and head to the Golden State Warriors. Some saw this as glory hunting and almost giving up by joining a team where a championship was likely to go anyway. With Steph Curry and Klay Thompson already there, the Warriors were never truly Durant's team.

However, the forward has since made the move to the Brooklyn Nets, a team without a championship to their name in over 40 years. Playing 2K21 with the Nets would be a project, but with Durant there to lead the way, the Playoffs are well within reach.

Not only would you have one of the best shooters in the league, but you would also have Kyrie Irving at point guard, meaning getting open shots with KD should be absolutely no problem. This will be a fun team to play with, and something refreshing after the recent injuries to both Durant and Irving.
