reported yesterday that part of the team responsible for working on Dead Space, Visceral Games in Melbourne, Australia will be shut down. It was confirmed through Twitter feed about the closure and they wanted to send "best wishes to the 21 devs now out of a job." This had been rumored for the past few days by an anonymous source, that "management had informed staff that the studio will be closing on Monday September 19". Visceral Games has studios in California and branch offices in Montreal, Canada and Melbourne, Australia; the studio in Melbourne, Australia had supposedly worked on Dead Space, The Godfather II and Dante's Inferno. It is always sad to hear about game studios shutting down, but with the economy the way it is major game publishers are trying to consolidate their assets to save money. I hope the people who lost their jobs are able to find work quickly in this tough economy.
