PES 2021: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

2. No Next-Gen Instalment

As mentioned earlier, Konami are already focusing a lot of their development efforts towards ensuring that PES 2022 - their first instalment on next-gen consoles - will be the best it can possibly be.

This means that when the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launch later this year, there won’t be a version of eFootball PES 2021 released to go with it, which will undoubtedly feel like a long old wait (especially if FIFA 21 beats them to the punch).

Despite no version of PES being around to showcase the capabilities of these new consoles, however, the one saving grace is that both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S will be backwards compatible. So while PES fans won’t get to experience the look and gameplay of next-gen just yet, they will still be able to play their copies of PES 2021 on their new console.
