Resident Evil 2: 10 Secrets & Weapons Everyone Totally Missed

2. S.T.A.R.S Badge

Resident Evil 2 Minigun
Capcom

You may wonder why somebody has put their badge in a gaudy jewellry box, but who are we to question. The more intrepid of you will have noticed that it doubles as a USB drive to use in the S.T.A.R.S office computer.

Doing this unlocks the magnum or machine gun for Leon and Claire, respectively. Done deal, you might think. But not so...

You'll notice that unlike most items, it doesn't have a red tick for discarding after use. That's because it has a second use, which most people (including yours truly) missed the first time around.

When you're able to backtrack to the parking garage, you'll find a locked glass cabinet that has a badge-shaped indentation in it. Now, Resi logic dictates you can't just break the glass, but instead retracting the USB allows the badge to unlock the case.

Doing this rewards you with further upgrades to the above weapons: the long barrel for the magnum, or a suppressor for the machine gun (which genuinely helps).

You're welcome.
