Resident Evil 2 Remake: 10 Things It Got WRONG

4. Axing The G Mutant Boss Fight

Another omission of enemies/bosses is that of the G Mutant, from either character's first scenario.

Borne of either journalist Ben or Chief Iron's chest, a la Alien, the G Mutant is considered the first boss in the original. A case of incompatibility is what forces the infant mutant from its host, as it hinders your progression to the next area.

This time around though, it seems the G Mutant(s) have been relegated to the sewers instead, replacing those freaky arachnids that we hate admitting we miss.

Replaced instead by Birkin in his first mutation stage, this boss was what originally replaced the G Mutant in the 2nd scenario back in the 1998 version.

It seems an obvious choice from Claire's perspective, as this is her first run in with Sherry Birkin. So thematically, it makes sense that Birkin senior would be seeking his daughter for genetic impregnation compatibility (no really, that's the lore. Weird, huh?).

But for Leon, it's just a case of "wrong place, wrong time" as he happens to stumble upon the big bad's hunt for his daughter. Whilst not the most egregious of changes, it's a strange change to the "remake but move things about" formula we're experiencing.
