S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Officially Cancelled

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been cancelled but former team members have banned together to create a new MMO instead.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was rumored to be on life support for most of this year with the rumour that GSC Game World the developers of the franchise would be closing their doors. Unfortunately, this rumour has turned out to be true and for now S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been put on hold indefinitely. It has been confirmed today that GSC Game World is closed and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will not be completed in the near future. However, there is some good news as former team members for GSC Game World have banded together and formed a new video game developer Vostok Games and are working on a new title. The new title is called Survarium (working title) and will be a free to play first-person shooter MMO. Here is the statement on the official website:
"We did not reach agreement with the rights owner regarding the use of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. brand, that€™s why we made the decision to move forward as an independent studio with a new project. That day became our starting point for Vostok Games," "The concept of Survarium is a next evolution step for the idea of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. we€™ve been working on for the last ten years, said project lead Ruslan Didenko. "Survarium will go way further forcing mankind to fight for survival not only within the closed area of Chernobyl zone, but also far beyond."
The game is set to be released sometime in 2013 most likely towards the end of the year, and will be released on the PC only.

I have been playing video games all my life but not only that I enjoy discussing them just as much as I love playing them. Therefore after going through college to get a criminal justice degree I became a freelance video game writer.
