Saints Row: The Third Trailer... Now With Added Burt Reynolds

THQ unveil yet another beautifully bonkers trailer for the upcoming sandbow spectacular, featuring gimps, zombies, phallic weaponry and the star of Smokey & The Bandit.

We already suspected that THQ's Saints Row: The Third was going to be a bit special - and by that I mean completely, self-consciously bat-shit mental. It is a game that clearly doesn't care what anybody thinks of it, the unruly, bad-influence boyfriend you'd never take home to meet mommy, but who will guarantee the kind of fun that leaves a lasting mark. And with the latest trailer for the release, which is set to arrive in the UK in just over two weeks time (I CANNOT WAIT!), that glorious, fun-filled insanity is confirmed, embraced and celebrated, including a chucklesome cameo from the star of Smokey & The Bandit and Boogie Nights, Mr Burt Reynolds. Here's a note from THQ to go alongside the trailer:
Pimps and Gimps, The Syndicate is comprised of 'roided-out wrestlers, emo cyberpunks, and well-dressed Europeans. STAG is armed with hover jets, jet bikes, and a flying aircraft carrier. To take Steelport for the Saints and defeat your most dangerous/ridiculous enemies yet, you're going to have to get creative. Assemble your team of pimps, gimps, zombies and, most importantly, the mayor of Steelport himself. Strap it on.
And here's the trailer itself: http://youtu.be/Fm5XAfuHsuA As if confirming that it doesn't fear the impending release of GTA V, THQ have released a trailer that tells us everything we need to know about the wayward spirit of the franchise, and it stands as a great statement of intent against the potential marketplace dilution caused by GTA V. THQ CEO Brain Farrell had this to say yesterday on the subject of what makes Saints Row unique:
I went online like everyone to see the GTA trailer€ it€™s a high quality trailer and I think it€™s going to be another fantastic game in the GTA series. That said, it also shows the completely different positioning of the two games. GTA is still serious and character driven €“ a very different experience. Saints Row €“ if you saw our video today €“ it shows you all the crazy stuff in the game. It€™s a totally different positioning and if you read the forums it€™s like €˜hey, I love GTA, and I love this game because it€™s a very different game that knows what it is and is very entertaining.
Who needs the gritty realism of MW3 or Battlefield 3 when you can bludgeon someone to death with a giant purple dildo bat? Strap it on indeed. Saints Row: The Third is released on US shores on November 15th and in the UK and Europe three days later.
