Now, being an assassin for the Night Mother is cool and all, but this is the quest in which the player finds out that he really means something. Like, for real, he's not just an intern.
Basically, Cicero, the crazy jester that's just more annoying than fun, is acting crazy (go figure). Astrid, the one that brought the player into the Sanctuary and embraced him and all, asks the Dragonborn to check him out. The player has to find out if Cicero is really just being crazy or he's plotting some kind of conspiracy behind his brother's backs. Because, you know, locking yourself in the Night Mother's room and talking and whispering is not normal behavior, even for a jester. So when the player hides in the coffin, Cicero comes in and starts talking with somebody. A few moments later, the Mother herself starts talking with the Dragonborn, and him alone, as he is the only one worthy enough to hear her. He is ''the Listener''. The Queen tells the player to go speak with Amaund Mottiere in Volunruud and then instructs him to tell Cicero a secret password, just so that the jester doesn't bother him anymore. As the player gets out, Cicero starts to act even crazier, screaming out his lungs. After the player follows the instructions, he backs off.
After all the crazy is over, Astrid walks into the room and the player tells her what happened.
