The final piece of the puzzle. The player will have the incredible honor of being the one that's to be remembered always within the Sanctuary, the one that killed an empire. The quest's whole idea is for the Dragonborn to go to the Castle Dour and impersonate the chef and then make the Emperor one final meal. A special one that must contain the secret ingredient, the ''Jarrin Root''. Slipping the ingredient into the stew will cause the Emperor to die immediately and the guards to try to attack the player on the spot. If he has the Sneak skill figured out, the best option is to slip unnoticed right away and leave unharmed.
Of course, forgetting to slip the secret ingredient will mean the player will have to kill the Emperor in a room full of people, leaving all subtility aside. The most frustrating thing is the player will learn, upon crossing the bridge and meeting with commander Maro, that all of the preparation and fuss was about nothing, as he just killed a decoy. Bummer, right? Wait, there's more.
Actually, a brother assassin betrayed the Dragonborn and made a deal with Maro. In exchange for the Dragonborn, all would be water under the bridge between Maro and the Brotherhood, but the commander has a plan of his own and betrays the betrayer. After the player escapes the soldiers, he must go to the Sanctuary, where he will find it in ruin.
Quite the rollercoaster, right?
