1. Tom Cruise
South Park's attack on Scientology is widely considered to be the zenith of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's comedic career. Unfortunately, the episode came with a lot of baggage and is notoriously known to be the reason Chef's voice actor Isaac Hayes asked for his contract release. Apparently, he was okay with mocking every religion but his own. Isaac Hayes wasn't the only one that came away furious from the audacity of Trey Parker and Matt Stone to poke fun at Scientology however, as Tom Cruise was also parodied in a multi-layered facet that attacked his sexuality, his acting skill, and devotion to Scientology. Basically, Stan tells Tom Cruise that he isn't a good actor which prompts him to enter Stan's closet and lock the door, for he is ashamed that he has disappointed Scientology. There are reports that Tom Cruise told Paramount Pictures and Viacom that if Comedy Central re-aired the episode he would pull out of all promotional material for Mission impossible 3, which was due out in the coming weeks. Tom Cruise has stated that this never happened and that he wasn't even aware of the episode, so it's unclear who is telling the truth, but there is one thing for certain. Tom Cruise makes a brilliant cameo appearance in Stick of Truth. If you examine the closet in Stan's room you will hear sound-bytes of Tom Cruise yelling things like "I'm never coming out". It will be interesting to see what action he takes upon finding out about this little Easter Egg. Did I miss anything good? I know there's tons of references so comment away with your favourites!
