Naughty Dog have always been at the pinnacle of cutting-edge graphics, but allegedly they've gone one step further for The Last of Us Part II. Spending years creating brand new tech for the game, the sequel is said to be a substantial cut above even Uncharted 4, with the facial performances in particular being completely overhauled.

Neil Druckmann has explained that the way his team has been able to render skin on the bone has resulted in even more lifelike animations and expressions - something which was more than apparent going off a brief look at the second trailer.

Expanding on how the new tech is going to improve the quality of the game, the director explained that the added emotion in the graphics has given the team more options in how they use the camera.

Apparently in previous games the developers opted against cutting to close-ups too much because the faces weren't that expressive, whereas now they have much more freedom, thanks to eyes in particularly being more realistic than ever before.
