8 Great Video Games That Inspired EVEN BETTER Ones
1. Jet Set Radio Inspired Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
2023's action-platformer Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is so very obviously inspired by the Jet Set Radio franchise in every fiber of its being that it's frankly surprising Sega didn't unleash the full might of their legal minions upon developer Team Reptile.
From its skating gameplay to its cel-shaded aesthetic, and music contributions from Jet Set Radio composer Hideki Naganuma, this is an open-hearted homage and one that actually surpasses the very thing it's homaging.
If you haven't played the Jet Set Radio games in a hot minute, they're pretty clunky and awkward today - especially the first game.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk by comparison feels decidedly more pointed control-wise, while also rocking one hell of a bonkers story compared to the basically non-existent narrative in the Jet Set Radio games.
While it's certainly exciting to see what Sega does with their impending Jet Set Radio reboot, don't be shocked if it ends up paling hugely in comparison to what Team Reptile cooked up here.
