8 Mods Better Than The Actual Game
4. The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod
Though Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords was largely praised by critics, the general consensus it that it's not nearly as polished an experience as the first KOTOR, largely due to the game's development being rushed in barely a year.
The result is game that feels fundamentally incomplete, as was confirmed when players dug into the files and discovered an absolute treasure trove of assets that didn't make it into the final game.
And in 2009 the first iteration of The Sith Lords Restored Content Modification was released - a mod which reconstitutes as much excised content as possible, restoring cut levels and dialogue, reintroducing the original ending, and even fixing more than 500 bugs.
The modded version consequently feels more cohesive from top to bottom in terms of its story, characters, and overall world-building, while varnishing over many of the rough edges which fans had to overlook the first time.
KOTOR II is pretty good, but the Restored Content Mod brings it much closer to the finessed brilliance of the original.
