Universe Mode continues to be an absolute slog of an offering, a stamina-sappingly dull simulation of a typical WWE schedule, but without any of the fun or excitement you'd hope for.

For starters, if 2K insists on keeping Universe Mode in these games, players need a wealth more freedom, particularly in terms of how wrestlers are booked, being able to dictate match outcomes and even things as simple as reorganising show and PPV schedules.

Basically, it needs to lean into the joy of fantasy booking and give the player more to do than just soullessly book match after match, because this mode becomes a tiresome bore after more than a few hours.
