The game came under fire for essentially being a lot of busy work and not much else. True, the plot is fairly thin (until things get interesting in the final act), and taking out enemy territories and scavenging scrap are intertwined with pivotal upgrades as well as plot progression - making it not just optional but necessary.
That would all be a great annoyance if the side-quests weren’t so much damn fun - shotgunning the tires out of an enemy convoy, strategically busting through a base's vicious defences, or pulling a beat-down on a gang of mutants in satisfying and brutal fashion - never waver in enjoyment, no matter how many times it's asked of you. In fact, it only builds in satisfaction as your skills and equipment improve.
For fans of the movies, or just bone-crunching action and break-neck driving; this one will eat plenty of your weekends, and is one hell of a ride.
