4. Call Of Duty: Ghosts
The Call of Duty franchise has long been a divisive entity in the gaming sphere, principally due to a perceived
lack of innovation and unwillingness to deviate from a long-established blueprint. On first impressions, Call of Duty: Ghosts looks set to become the most extensive revision to the formula since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare laid the foundations. Along with an expanded arsenal of weapons, killstreaks (mercifully, these are now predominantly ground-based and easier to countervail) and game types, Ghosts will feature dynamic maps and two new systems: Create-a-Solider and Squads. Create-a-Soldier introduces a reimagining of Black Ops 2s point-based loadout system further increasing the perk/weapon/equipment permutations while also allowing you to customise the appearance (and gender) of up to 10 recruits. Squads is a separate game mode that pits your team of AI mercenaries (classes you built in Create-a-Soldier) against another players crew of assailants. Your squad can even be challenged when youre offline, gaining experience with each encounter. Ultimately, none of these additions are ground-breaking, but importantly, theyre not game-breaking either, which is central to Call of Dutys continued success. Only time will tell if measured refinement is enough to sate the naysayers.
