In The Endless, brothers Justin and Aaron return to the cult they escaped from years earlier, hoping to find closure. When they discover the community is thriving, Justin and Aaron consider staying, since they're unable to function in the real world. However, the siblings change their tune when they see the awesome power of its leader, a cosmic being simply called The Entity.

During their stay, one cult member, Hal, talks to Justin about impossible colours which exist beyond people's visual spectrum, so they cannot be seen or imagined. This is a great analogy for The Entity itself, since it cannot be understood by the human mind. Even when The Entity performs non-malicious acts, like manipulating weather, space, and gravity, there's a great sense of uneasiness, since it's impossible to wrap your head around what's happening.

By the time The Entity traps its worshippers in timeloops or reduces them to a fountain of blood for its own amusement, Justin and Aaron are justifiably scared out of their minds. Although The Entity is wicked and godlike, the fact that its form, intentions, and limits are beyond comprehension is what really gets under your skin.
