10 Worst Recastings In Horror Movie History

1. Julianne Moore - Hannibal

Considering she’s already featured on this list twice, it was only a matter of time before Julianne Moore got her own entry.

A decade after it shook the movie world to its core, The Silence of the Lambs got a sequel in the form of 2001’s Hannibal. For this adventure, the titular doctor is the subject of a manhunt orchestrated by one of his victims, but ends up becoming an unlikely hero in the process.

Well, as much of a hero as a man who eats people can ever be.

Whilst Anthony Hopkins returned to play Lecter, a part originally played by Brian Cox in Manhunter, Jodie Foster was busy, so declined to reprise her Academy Award-winning role of Clarice Starling. Director Ridley Scott eventually landed on Moore as her replacement - little did she know that she would be walking into a pit of flames.

Foster did such an amazing job as Clarice that anybody would have had a tough time following her. Moore is a great actress, that’s undeniable, but she felt severely out of place in this world.

Hannibal received mixed reviews and Clarice Starling hasn’t appeared on the big screen since.
