20 Awesome Horror Movies With No Sequels

7. The Fog

Two years after he changed the genre forever more with Halloween, John Carpenter made The Fog - a deeply spooky, vibes-rich ghost story that's enjoyed something of a positive reappraisal in recent years.

The film was a considerable box office success in 1980, grossing over $20 million on a mere $1 million budget, enough that there must've surely been the temptation to spin The Fog off into a series.

Except this is John Carpenter we're talking about - the man who famously hates sequels to his own movies after being talked into co-writing Halloween II the year after he finished The Fog.

Granted, Carpenter is also the man who went on to make Escape from L.A. and avidly defend it from criticism - the duality of man in practise right here.

Ultimately The Fog is another horror movie that told a closed-off story and simply didn't merit another go, so it's probably more likely we end up with a second remake at some point.
