20 Perfect Scenes In Otherwise Terrible Horror Movies

16. Seed Of Chucky - The Shining

Though it has some defenders, it is still arguable that Seed of Chucky is the low point of the Child's Play franchise. A bizarre meta-horror lacking in any sort of plot, Seed is largely devoid of thrills or laughs - except for one legitimately hysterical joke.

Towards the end, Chucky (Brad Dourif) axes his way through the door and looks through the gap in the wood. It cuts to a close-up of his maniacal face staring through the gap, and he pauses. "I can't think of a thing to say... f**k it!" Now that is how to do a good pop culture gag, and it certainly puts the absolute bilge seen in most parodies - such as the recently-released, mortifyingly bad Scary Movie 6 - to shame.

Everyone would've been expecting Chucky to drop a "Here's Johnny" kind of one-liner, and his sudden moment of confusion was a hilarious subversion of expectations. It is a darn funny thought that a character in a meta horror film wouldn't be aware of perhaps the most referenced horror movie in history.
