20 "WTF Did I Just Watch" Horror Sequels

4. Leprechaun 4: In Space

With this particular flick, a single glance at the title tells you why it's on this list.

While the original Leprechaun was both dumb and unacceptably dull, Leprechaun 4: In Space understood the assignment and commits to being a wacky horror-comedy with undeniably entertaining results. In terms of the plot, the Leprechaun (Warwick Davis) is now on a distant planet in the year 2096 (because... reasons) and he's trying to retrieve his gold (as per).

A group of marines manages to kill Lep... but one of them urinates on his corpse, and thus, his spirit travels up the urine stream and... manifests itself in the marine's penis. Later, while said marine is getting it on, the Leprechaun emerges from his penis and goes on one of the silliest slasher movie rampages ever, carving his way through the spaceship's crew while dropping a series of gleeful one-liners.

Leprechaun 4 is relentlessly ridiculous. To give some highlights, it's got a hammy German-accented cyborg who gets turned into a spider, it's got the Leprechaun cartoonishly flattening someone's face by throwing a plate at him, and it concludes with a hysterical climax in which the Leprechaun is hit by an experimental growth ray and turns into a giant.

And do you know what? This movie is actually genuinely fun. It'd be overzealous to call it good, per se, but it is at least self-aware, frequently funny, and it knows exactly what it is. It's never boring, that's for sure.
