10 Huge Songs You Wrongly Thought Got To Number One

4. Robbie Williams - Angels

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luwAMFcc2f8 What Robbie song pops into your mind when you think of his greatest work? Are you a 'Rock DJ' fan or maybe you prefer the contemporary 'Candy?' Heck maybe you just liked Robbie back when he was one fifth of Take That. Whatever the case the man is a born performer but his career is not without its hiccups. I mean Lovelight...what was that? Nevertheless Robbie has still retained his king-of-pop status through the years because he's worked with some truly talented people within the industry. Back in 1997 he was fortunate enough to work with Guy Chambers on a song which would go on to be the most successful of his solo career. Co-penned with Chambers the final product was the emblematic 'Angels' which has become a favourite at weddings, proms and even funerals. 'Angels' is a track that has the 'Amazing Grace' quality. It's both humble and sad, yet has an uplifting eminence which taps into the tenderest of human emotions. At the time of its release Angels only ever made it to number 4, but time has been generous as it was voted the best British song of the past 25 years at the 2005 BRIT awards.
