10 Phenomenal Bands Whose Very First Songs Blew Us Away

2. The Sex Pistols - Holidays In The Sun

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ah1JM9mf60 From the album: Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols (1977) A brutally raw track taken from possibly the greatest Punk album ever recorded, The Sex Pistols couldn't have announced their arrival more perfectly than on "Holiday's in the Sun". Anthemic and rebellious, the song begins with what sounds like hundreds of steel-toe capped boots marching aggressively through the streets of Britain. The Sex Pistols were coming, p*ssed off and ready to shake the very foundations of British society from the ground up. Johnny Rotten's snarling, spitting, sarcastic and oh so cynical delivery instantly became a thing of nihilistic beauty and his voice is ably backed up by brute force backing vocals which sound like an army of thugs ready and primed to separate your nose from your face, only adding to the explosive and confrontational atmosphere. Mugging The Jam's "In the City" for its descending chord pattern, The Sex Pistols unashamedly pinched ideas but defiantly made them their own. No one else sounded like The Sex Pistols, probably because they didn't want to, but there is no denying the ferocious impact The Sex Pistols made with the first song from their only album.

I love Heavy Metal, and generally anything that involves a guitar and loud noises, so I figured it was about time I put all the useless information in my head to good use and start writing a few things. Most of the time I'll be writing nonsense but occasionally I may surprise myself and appear half-way knowledgable.....but you can be the judge of that. Thanks for your fleeting attention!
