10 Rock Music Albums Where One Person Plays Everything
2. Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters
The story of Foo Fighters' formation is well-trodden ground, but it's definitely a tale that bears repeating.
In late 1994, mere months after his Nirvana bandmate, Kurt Cobain, had taken his own life, drummer Dave Grohl took to the studio to try and get out some of his grief. He threw himself into his work, taking on the role of multi-instrumentalist to power through the pain of losing such a close friend.
Once it was all done, Grohl chose to name the album and his new project "Foo Fighters", and rock history was made.
Though they're a massive band now with nine current and former members to their name, Foo Fighters began as a one-man project. In fact, the only other musician credited on that first album is Greg Dulli, for "additional guitar" on the song X-Static.
What started out as a drummer's self-therapy session grew and grew into a true phenomenon, a band that has given modern rock some of its most enduring classics and still continues to excite fans long into its run.
Bet Mr. Grohl didn't see that coming when he booked that first lot of studio time.
