10 Songs That Are Huge Outliers On Rock Albums

5. More Than Words - Extreme II: Pornograffiti (Extreme)

How many housewives in their mid-forties all rushed out to by an album with the subtitle "Pornograffiti" based off one listen to More Than Words on the radio?

Extreme started out as a hair metal-cum-heavy rock band with their self-titled debut from 1989. Then followed their sophomore release and the song that would change their careers forever.

More Than Words is a soft and sweet guitar ballad about how the protagonist wants their lover to express their feelings through actions. It's cheesier than a block of stilton, and people couldn't get enough of it.

It's sold millions of copies around the world and is still popular on soft rock radio stations to this day. As for the rest of the album? Not so much.

Hole Hearted (which isn't even on some editions of the record) was the closest to another hit they had and Get The Funk Out did well on some rockier music channels. But they all pale in comparison to More Than Words, probably because that was the only song the band released in this style.

Still, when it comes to soppy love songs, one is probably more than enough.
