10 Times Rock Musicians Stopped Their Own Shows

3. Kurt Cobain To The Rescue

Much like his 90s compadre Zack, Kurt Cobain also didn't suffer fools gladly and always made it very clearly when you'd done something he didn't like.

Towards the end of 1993, Nirvana were at their most successful, with their album In Utero having come out in September. They had been booked to play a show on New Year's Eve in Oakland, California and all was going well, until one a-hole in the crowd decided to ruin it for everyone.

During the performance of the song Jesus Doesn't Want Me For a Sunbeam, Cobain spotted a female fan being assaulted by a male. A staunch supporter of women's right, Cobain leapt to the fan's defence, putting down his guitar and drawing attention to transgression.

Cobain then returned to the mic and called the guy out, saying "Copping a feel, eh buddy?" before bassist Krist Novoselic led the crowd in publicly humiliating the alleged groper.

The Oakland gig was taking place in a relatively small venue, so luckily the band were able to see what was going on and put a stop to it. Thank God some celebrities actually have principles that they stick to.
