Eminem has never been shy in aiming digs at fellow celebrities in his raps. The multiple jibes he aims at famous figures often serve as a time capsule, offering clues to which pop culture fads were in the mainstream at the time of his song’s recording.
Politicians, actors and fellow musicians were all fair game for Marshall as he aimed his lyrical fire at whomever he pleased, even fictional characters and serial killers often get name dropped on his tracks.
An article from XXL Magazine discovered that a total of 49 celebrity name drops appeared on ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’, including the US President at the time, Bill Clinton, as well as his own producer Dr. Dre.
His most common targets however were Puffy (a.k.a. P Diddy) and boy band *NSYNC, who were each mentioned three times on the album.
