Every David Bowie Album Ranked Worst To Best (By Guitar Power)

3. Diamond Dogs (1974)

Bowie’s first post-Ronson album sees the man himself playing a lot of guitar, including the iconic ‘Rebel Rebel’ riff – something often mistakenly attributed to the departed Ronson.

Originally intended to be thematically constructed around George Orwell’s ‘1984’, problems with licensing from his estate led those songs to be grouped together as a mini-concept within the album. The overall feel of the record is a glam-tinged dystopian look at the future, although ‘Rebel Rebel’ and ‘Diamond Dogs’ sound anything but downbeat.

The future without Ronno didn't look too bleak at this point, although little did we know that there would be slim pickings for the lovers of the Bowie rock'n'roll incarnation in the following years.
