10 'Alternative Medicines' That Will Do Some Serious Damage

9. Urine Drinking

Urine Drinking
Wikipedia

If it's true that the nastier a medicine is then the more good it does you, then pee drinking should cure cancer.

Unfortunately, it's not true and pee can in no way be considered a "medicine".

There is common a myth that urine is sterile, but recent studies have shown that the urinary tract is host to a microbiome in much the same way as your gut and, yes, this bacteria can be found in your pee.

Even if it were sterile, however, it would still not be advisable to drink, particularly as a way to cure any kind of disease. A well-hydrated person's urine will be mostly water - in which case you may as well just drink water - and a dehydrated person's pee will contain high levels of waste products.

These waste products include high levels of sodium which will speed dehydration - making it unsuitable for even survival situations. Somebody tell Bear Grylls.
