10 Badass War Heroes You've Never Heard Of
9. The Churchill Club
One of the most nefarious aspects of Hitler and the Third Reich's campaign was their propaganda, and the way that they managed to effectively brainwash not only grown adults that should've known better to believe the tripe in Mein Kampf, but kids who got recruited to the cause as well. The Hitler Youth recruited males aged 14 to 18-years-old and acted sort of like the Nazi version of the boy scouts (who got banned in World War II era Germany), only instead of camping and tying knots they were taught to how to shoot guns and form military strategies. Not that all kids in Nazi-occupied countries ended up in the thrall of the Fuhrer.
During the war it became mandatory for all "Aryan" children to join the Hitler Youth, but in 1941 a group of rebellious Danish teens decided to fight back against the invasion of their small Scandinavian country. The eight teenagers formed The Churchill Club, operating from their Aalborg Cathedral School in the north of Jutland to perform acts of sabotage against the German army. Inspired by the British prime minister they nabbed off with Nazi weapons and vehicles, spread anti-German propaganda to the kids who were being brought into the Hitler Youth, and probably sprayed graffiti saying "For a good time call Joseph Goebbels".
They passed all their stolen equipment onto adult freedom fighters but kicked things up a notch themselves by setting a train full of munitions on fire. They were arrested, but escaped, and continued to be covert teenage badasses. Whilst you spent your adolescence playing Call Of Duty.
