10 Bizarre Cases Of Mass Hysteria

4. Monkey-man Of Delhi (2001)

MONKEY MAN OF DELHI
Wikipedia

A dangerous monkey-like creature was scaring the crap out of people on the streets of Delhi, India.

Back in 2001, eyewitness accounts describedcreature attacks by a dangerous monkey-like creature that was about 4 feet tall with thin black hair, metal claws, a metal helmet, glowing red eyes and buttons on its chest. Some people claimed to see something bigger, like a huge ape-man, maybe even as tall as eight feet tall, jumping from roof to roof in India’s capital.

On 13 May 2001, 15 people were attacked by the supposed monkey-man, suffering bruises, bites, and scratches. More seriously, three people died trying to escape the strange beast by jumping off roofs and falling down stairwells in an attempt to get away from it. More sightings in 2002 describe the monkey-man as being a monkey-like machine that sparked with red and blue lights.

Nobody knows what really went on in Delhi in 2001/2002 but the incident has been described as a slightly odd example of mass hysteria.
