10 Common Nightmares (And What They Actually Mean)

4. Being Ill Or Injured

No one enjoys being ill or injured, and so the dreams in which we find ourselves like this can be distressing for a whole host of reasons. While the cause of the illness or injury is often never uncovered in the dream, it can be most unsettling for the dreamer to endure, unaware that the injuries aren't physical or real at all. What It Means... Dreams in which you find yourself suffering some illness or injury are often a result of having feelings of weakness and/or vulnerability in some aspect of your personal or professional life. These dreams symbolise the dreamer having a deficiency in their belief in themselves and their abilities, with some dream experts believing that these dreams act as a self-defense mechanism and an alarm call for the dreamer to rectify the situation at hand. Illness and death also can indicate a transitory period as things end and new things begin, potentially turning these dreams of injury, illness and dying into something almost upbeat.
