10 Despicable War Crimes That Were Shamefully Denied

5. Japanese War Crimes - World War Two

Contemporary Japanese politicians have bent over backwards to apologise for WW2 war crimes ever since the normalisation of relations with China. However, for a very long time during the 20th century, Japan tried to make light of its war crimes and swept them under the carpet. To be fair, Japan has a lot of atrocities that it is responsible for. Frequently referred to as the Asian Holocaust, Japanese war crimes include the killing of 30 million Vietnamese, Cambodians, Malays, Filipinos, Burmese and Indonesians. Just like the Nazis, the Japanese enslaved the populations of the territories they occupied and forced them into hard labour. In Unit 731, they conducted terrible medical experiments upon the Chinese and tested bio-weapons upon subjects. Unit 731 continues to provoke denial. There was also the famous Rape of Nanking in which the Japanese had a wild orgy of sex, murder and looting at the expense of the Chinese inhabitants. Japanese nationalists and many sections of Japanese society have a revisionist agenda when it comes to war crimes committed by their country and will flat out deny that they took place. Formerly one of the most militarised societies in the world, many Japanese try to hush up their ignominious past.
