"Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was one of the founding members of legendary groove metal band Pantera, as well as other project Damageplan, and was most definitely considered a true master of his art. But his untimely death is not only shocking due to the unnaturally early nature of the event, but also thanks to the shockingly violent and subhuman cause. Dimebag was playing with Damageplan in Columbus, Ohio, when a gunman announced himself amongst the crowd. The murderer, Nathan Gale wordlessly let loose a rain of bullets into the venue, three of which struck the guitarist, the final one proving fatal, making impact with his skull. As chaos swam all around the hall, the gunman claimed three other lives, as well as wounding a further seven people. To kill a man in cold blood is horrendous enough, doing it in a room full of people who adore him is one step worse, but to also cut down equally innocent people at the scene is nothing short of sickening and barbaric. Gale was brought down with a short blast from the police who had arrived at the scene, with the rounds fired killing him instantly.
