Beastly Kingdom is the attraction that never was at Animal Kingdom.

The opening of the park was set to be in two phases. With the main areas we know now encompassing the first phase, then a more magical land being built in the second stage. That land was Beastly Kingdom.

The land was supposed to take visitors along two paths. The lighter one with a family friendly journey to find the elusive unicorn. The darker path took guests to where dragons dwell, with a much more intense coaster.

There are several clues that show Disney's intention to build Beastly Kingdom. Eagle-eyed visitors can spot the dragon on the sign as the enter the park. There is even a Unicorn parking section. When guests used to journey along the Discovery Island Boats they also used to pass a fire breathing dragon hidden inside a cave. There are even carved pegasus and griffins carved into the board above the ticket booth

Unfortunately the land instead housed Camp Minnie-Mickey, which in turn closed to be the future home of Avatar, meaning there there will be some fantastical creatures in Animal Kingdom after all very soon.
