10. Flora-bama Mullet Toss Pensacola
Theres a little bar along the Alabama and Florida border called the Flora-bama. Its a lounge and oyster bar. They also run a marina and liquor store, which is pretty standard for any family owned bar along the coast. What makes the Flora-bama so special is their yearly mullet toss held the last full weekend of April. During this competition, people see how far they can toss a mullet across the border into Alabama. So, what is a mullet? Aside from being a really crappy haircut birthed in the 1980s, its also a small fish native to the Florida coast. Its one of few fish with a gizzard and is considered a delicacy to many Floridians.
