10 Heinous Projects That Remained Hidden In Classified Documents
1. USAF Project 1794
In 1956, Project 1794 of the United States Air Force (USAF) contemplated a design and development different to any known aircraft or helicopter.
The Air Force hired a Canadian company called Avro Aircraft Limited based in Ontario on April 2, 1955, for the construction of the flying saucer.
The design was based on a vertical takeoff and landing, reaching a speed between three and four times greater than that of sound, at an altitude of 30,000 meters and with a range of 1850 km.
In the tests of the flying saucer a series of fatal accidents took place. High development costs ultimately led to it being scrapped.
According to the official report, the project was finally canceled in 1960.
