10 Highly Questionable Actions Committed By Barack Obama
There's no arguing that in principle, Barack Obama is one of the most successful politicians in American history. On January 20, 2009 at 12:00 pm, thousands upon thousands set up camp in Washington, DC to watch history be made: an African American freshman senator from Illinois taking the most solemn oath in the land, to execute faithfully the Office of the President of the United States, to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States to the best of his ability, and just after 12 noon, President Barack Obama had broken the racial barrier as old as our nation itself, and like him or not, it was truly a great day to be an American. While I won't dispute the idea that our President, now in his second term in office, meant absolutely everything he said at the time while on his campaign, it's safe to say that especially in the last year or so, the trials and tribulations of politics in Washington changed the dashing turnaround management senator we knew and loved in 2008. Some adjectives that could describe the 44th President include direct, charismatic, inspirational, eloquent and charming. However, nobody is perfect: other words that could describe him include arrogant, stubborn, demanding, and, with a Republican House and a Democratic Senate, a lame duck. While he still enjoys an average 45.6% approval rating among the big league pollsters including Gallup, Rasmussen, The Economist and major news networks at the time of this publication (Source: Real Clear Politics), an average to above average rating for a President at this point in his tenure, Obama has suffered a slow but steady decline in the last two polling quarters. With a 52% disapproval rating of the President and an all time low approval rating for the legislature in Washington itself, I would like to outline ten potential reasons why the honeymoon phase with our historic President seems to have ended.
