The MTV Video Music Awards (or VMAs for short) always feature a surprise or two. However, it was the twerk heard around the world that most people remember about the event. On August 25th, music stars from all over attended and performed at the awards show held at the Barclays Center in New York. Prior to the show, word was spreading that there would be an 'N Sync reunion, which built up a ton of hype that spread like wildfire. After the night was over, many had completely forgotten about the 'N Sync reunion as all they could talk about was Miley Cyrus. Miley Cyrus came out to perform "We Can't Stop", the lead single from her latest album, Bangerz. It was a bit odd: Miley danced awkwardly with bears and let her tongue lash around like she was Venom's deranged daughter. Once Robin Thicke came out, it got worse. Miley gave him a lapdance, humped a foam finger, grabbed herself all over, and shook her ass all over the place. Considering Miley Cyrus was best known for her squeaky clean Hannah Montana character, parents were predictably outraged. I can't imagine the looks on their faces when letting their 10-year olds stay up to watch her on stage. Although the raunchy performance seemed to have paid off (her album Bangerz debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard charts), it was easily one of the most cringe-worthy music performances ever. And after 2013 ended, it is undoubtedly the most cringe-worthy moment of the year. Do you agree? Disagree? Think something else should have made the top 10? Let us know in the comments below!
