10 Incredibly Creepy Unexplained Disappearances

9. The Springfield Three

The case of the Springfield Three has been controversially regarded as one of the biggest policing gaffes in American history, as Sherrill Levitt, Suzie Streeter and Stacy McCall of Missouri had been allowed to simply vanish from existence. The three were attending a party in 1992 when they left to go to a friend's house, due to overcrowding, but were never seen again. It is clear that the women arrived at the other house, as their clothes, purses, keys and even their car were found at the scene, with reportedly nothing untoward about the house other than a smashed lightbulb on the porch. Although suspects have been questioned, including a man who claims to know that the women were murdered and that their bodies will never be found, there is no firm proof of these claims. The Springfield Three remarkably vanished without any witnesses and seemingly nothing could be done by the authorities, who admitted that the great number of party-goers meant that evidence has been irredeemably contaminated.
